Ernesto Davila stamps his baby banana boxes.

The boxes are marked with producer codes

  • When the banana boxes have been filled, they are stamped with a code that allows for the bananas to be traced all the way back to the farm.
  • The code is a series of numbers that can look for example like this: 30512120. ”30” is the number of the week, week 30. ”512” is the farmer’s personal code. ”1” is the number of his farm, because the farmer can own land in different places. ”20” is the date the bananas are harvested.
